Your wedding dress should fit like a dream, and that’s where alterations come in! At Marcella’s Bridal, we want every bride to feel confident and comfortable in their gown, which is why our expert team carefully tailors each dress to perfection. Every wedding dress needs a little altering to perfect the hem, straps, taking the dress in or out, and adding a bustle. If you’re wondering what to expect during the alteration process, here’s everything you need to know before your first fitting.

Your First Fitting: Where It All Begins
Once your wedding dress arrives at our store, it’s untouched—meaning no alterations have been made yet. Your first fitting is where we begin the process of altering the fit to your body. At this appointment, our skilled seamstresses will pin and mark adjustments, such as taking in or letting out the bodice, hemming the length, and ensuring everything lays perfectly on you. Be sure to bring your wedding shoes, as this is essential for marking the correct hem length!
The Alteration Process & Final Fitting
After your first fitting, we begin the alteration work to shape your dress to fit flawlessly. Once the adjustments are complete, we schedule a final fitting to ensure everything is just right. This last appointment is when you’ll try on your dress with all alterations finished, and we’ll make any last minor tweaks if needed.
Maintaining Your Fit
Once your alterations begin, it’s important to maintain your body size to ensure your dress fits perfectly on your wedding day. Any changes in weight or body shape after alterations may require additional adjustments, so keep this in mind as you plan for your big day!
At Marcella’s Bridal, our goal is to make sure you feel beautiful, confident, and comfortable in your dress from the first fitting to the final walk down the aisle. If you have any questions about the alteration process, don’t hesitate to ask—we’re here to help!
